Pilates is an exercise system that coordinates mind, body and breath to develop strong core muscles - primarily the abdominal muscles. Pilates improves strength, flexibility and suppleness of the muscles of the hip and shoulder girdle and is extremely effective in helping back or shoulder problems and for improving posture. It’s also a fantastic workout for toning and strengthening the body. Pilates is now recommended by many physiotherapists, osteopaths, GPs and chiropractors.
During pregnancy Pilates is effective in supporting the back, toning the abdominal and pelvic floor muscles, maintaining flexibility and aiding relaxation. Before joining the class it is a requirement that you attend a private session with Penny. This is so that Penny can check medical history, carry out a posture/movement assessment, teach the stabilising technique and make notes on your individual requirements.
